Our Story

A grand vision for generations to come

Aireko was founded in Puerto Rico in 1963. A third-generation executive-owned group of a multi-disciplinary construction and building services group of companies, providing turnkey building solutions for clients throughout Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and the East Coast of the United States, out of 11 strategically located regional offices. 

The Group of companies share a common operational culture of Total Compliance that primarily calls for Integrity, Zero Accidents, Customer Satisfaction and a Job Completed on Time and on Budget, while protecting the environment, engaging to foster sustainable communities, and maintaining the highest standards of ethics and quality. 

Today, Aireko Companies employ more than 800 employees throughout North America, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, with annual revenues exceeding $200 million.

Zero-Accident Construction is one of the values that drive our company to success. We consistently perform to the safety, housekeeping, quality and project controls standards of our clients. Our constant, well below industry average injury and accident record is a testament of our solid, proactive, comprehensive safety program we provide our workforce, our clients and our community.

Aireko’s leadership recognizes the responsibility to provide a clean, safe and healthy workplace free of hazardous conditions and behaviors in compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations. We reinforce our Environmental, Health and Safety policies well beyond OSHA government standards by implementing project specific administrative policies and procedures for each Aireko operation, and we continually evaluate, train, and reward our field leader behavior to limit the occurrence of work-related accidents and illnesses.

Jose E. Rossi

Chairman of the Board

Mr. Rossi is Chairman and majority owner of Aireko Companies and Chairman of Aireko Foundation. In Aireko, Josen has led fast-track CM/GC and Design-Build Construction of innovative institutional and industrial work that contributed to the modernization of Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Florida and the MID Atlantic U.S. for their sustainable industrial and economic development.   As Aireko Companies Managing Partner Josen oversees international growth, the allocation of capital to new markets and products, and the growth of third generation partners and managers. Also, as Aireko Foundation President, Josen directs its yearly philanthropic investments in Puerto Rico and U.S. education for the needy, including the arts and sciences of entrepreneurship and sustainable development. 

 

Waldemar E. (“Wally”) Toro

Chief Executive Officer 

Mr. Toro has over 20 years of experience in the electrical and mechanical disciplines, as well as the construction management fields, overseeing multimillion-dollar projects in both the public and private sector, including industrial, institutional, commercial and residential projects. As General Manager of Aireko Services and Installations (ASI) he is committed to helping clients maximize operating results to excel in the overall achievement of their development objectives, as a one single source for HVAC and electrical upgrades and shutdowns, tenant improvements, and general construction maintenance services. He is a member of the IEEE and PMI. 

 

Waldemar E. (“Tito”) Toro, P.E.

Partner & President

Eng. Toro directs all energy related business. He began his career with Aireko as a project engineer supervising industrial, commercial, and residential projects. In 1998, he was promoted to direct the electrical construction and instrumentation of the Liquid Natural Gas terminal and storage facilities for the Eco-eléctrica 500 MW Power plant. Waldemar oversee’s Aireko’s Industrial Construction as well as the Energy Group, and also responsible for Aireko’s Environmental Health and Occupational Safety Department. 

Luis Uzcategui

Partner

Mr. Uzcategui has ample experience planning and building commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and wastewater treatment plant projects. Luis is particularly skilled in civil construction management, including value engineering, scheduling and GMP development. Many years of experience of work as senior project manager have gained Luis the experience and the knowledge to lead AIREKO’s hi-rise construction processes and to direct the pre-construction feasibility and constructability of the most challenging jobs.
